Educator
As a teacher and school psychologist (Masters from University of Cincinnati in Education), Peta seeks
to help neighborhood children who have had inconsistent or limited school attendance, with the resulting
lack of literacy, which will have an impact on their future. Beyond buying her weekly school preparedness
package (shoes, uniforms, backpack, notebooks, pencils), she started a fundraising "send a child to school"
initiative.

Granada Art Project
Peta Kaplan-Sandzer and Ben Sandzer-Bell launched the Granada Art Project in June 2006 with the intent to develop an Art Magnet School in Granada, Nicaragua. Launched with a single class of 9 students, the program has grown nicely, to encompass now 9 classes and 350 students.' A talented local artist, Eduardo Arias, has taken the lead at Granada's Universidad Santo Tomas and is introducing students to a variety of art skills, covering drawing, painting, paper Mache, tile making, painting on glass and silk screening. The art program is supported by proceeds from the sale of Peta's paintings.
