2007 Chicago Public Arts Project

video from Ford Motor Company

in 2006, Peta was selected to participate in the Cool Globes public arts project. Coming on the heals of Al Gore’s "An Inconvenient Truth" movie and the surge in environmental awareness in the U.S., this Chicago based environmental project has toured key U.S. cities and is now featured in Copenhagen for the December 2009 Climate Change conference.

About Cool Globes
Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet is a public art exhibit that unites artists, corporations, government and non-profit organizations to increase awareness and promote solutions to global warming. The exhibit which premiered in the summer of 2007 shun the U.S. national spotlight on Chicago’s long standing commitment to both public arts and environmental initiatives. Cool Globes were displayed along Chicago's famous lakefront, allowing visitors to see the exhibit throughout the summer, before the exhibit’s nation-wide tour. Cool Globes Project

#39 - "Green Fleets "
The Illinois Green Fleets Program is a voluntary program where businesses, government units, and other organizations in Illinois gain recognition for having clean, green, domestic, renewable fuel vehicles in their fleet. The globe will juxtapose through the use of red and green slices, the choices that fleet managers can make for their drivers. The oil rig is the visual for the red segments; the corn stock is the dominant visual for the green segments. Cutting across several segments, will be a graph showing greenhouse gas emissions trends. Above it will be a visual strip merging cornfields with congested freeways. Local communities which have green fleets will also be highlighted.
